Arcachon gives you two very different beach settings. The bay side is often more sheltered, close to piers, pines and villages. On the ocean side, the horizon gets huge and the surf brings more power.
Choose your shoreline
A bay beach can be a good fit for a stroll or a swim when conditions allow. Ocean beaches feel wilder and more exposed. Wind and sea state can change the plan, so check local notices when you arrive.
Swim smart
Use authorised swimming areas when they’re open, read the flags and follow lifeguard instructions. Currents can be strong even when the water looks calm. Bring sun protection, keep an eye on your crew and take your rubbish with you.
